The Officer Brian Shaw Memorial Scholarship
Application for Full Scholarship – Allegheny County Police Academy
The Officer Brian Shaw Memorial Scholarship was established in 2018 in memory of New Kensington Police Officer Brian Shaw.
On November 17, 2017, Officer Brian Shaw was shot and killed during a traffic stop in the City of New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Officer Shaw was a lifelong resident of the City of Lower Burrell, graduated from Burrell High School, Slippery Rock University and graduated from the Allegheny County Police Academy on January 22, 2015. Officer Shaw was hired as a full-time police officer in the City of New Kensington during the summer of 2017. During his short time in law enforcement, Officer Shaw left a lasting impression on the residents of the City of New Kensington and the Alle-Kiski Valley. He had a passion for service to his community and the people that he loved. To honor Officer Brian Shaw and his dedication to the communities in which he lived and worked, Officer Brian Shaw Memorial Scholarship Fund held the first annual Memorial Scholarship Ride on August 19, 2018, which, in part, generated the funds which have made this scholarship possible.
The Officer Brian Shaw Memorial Scholarship is a tuition reimbursement scholarship which will be awarded each semester at graduation.
